To The Judo Community:
This is to inform you about the upcoming 2015 World Police & Fire Games being celebrated in Fairfax, Virginia June 26- July 5, 2015. Judo will take place June 26-27, 2015. Judo athletes will first will check in and weigh in on Friday, June 26th with the Judo competition running all day on Saturday, June 27th. The World Police & Fire Games is basically the Olympics for full time and retired police, firefighters, paramedics, customs and correction officers from all around the world. There are 61 medal sports, 12,000 first responders from 70 countries, 30,000 visitors and 4,000 volunteers.
I highly encourage you visit the 2015 World Police & Fire Games website for specific information. You can register as a volunteer or athlete. When you register online to volunteer there is a background screening performed by the 2015 World Police & Fire Games at their expense. Each registered volunteer will get a nice looking golf shirt, complementary meals, and there is a shuttle bus service for those who need it. Judo is an IJF sanctioned event. Roy Englert, Jr. will be the Chief Referee. Maurice Allan, MBE is the Tournament Director. He is assisted by our Local Organizing Committee (LOC) that includes Sharon Landstreet, Sebastian John, and me. The 2015 World Police & Fire Games is being supportive in our effort to host a high quality international tournament. The venue site for Judo is George Mason University in the newly renovated Athletic Field House.
