John was born July 30, 1941, in Washington D.C., and was one of seven children with four brothers and two sisters. He grew up in San Diego, Calif. He served our country in the 101st Airborne division, 7th Calvary Division, and the 7th Special Forces Group (ABN 1st Special Forces).

Johnny moved his family to the best place on Earth, McCall, Idaho, where he and Barbara owned and operated Donnelly Country Store. Johnny loved the outdoors and was able to spend some of his last days with his family at his favorite place, the Pyle cabin on the South Fork of the Salmon River. We will all remember Johnny as a man of integrity a great sense of humor, respected, and loved by all who knew him.

Johnny was a major part and actively involved with the McCall Judo club. He was enormously proud of his family, his wife Barbara, his three sons John (Hanna), Kenny (Lannea), and Dino. “PaPa” was always there for, and deeply loved his grandchildren: Rayann, Parker, Trevin, Robert, Travis and Kingston. He was preceded in death by his son, Dino.
